It’s spooky month one of my most favourite times of the year!

Agatha Goes To School is out now and available online and in all good book shops

It’s a bright sunny day and Agatha is starting school but everything is so different and after school even the bright sunny day has turned gloomy. A story about change and finding the joy in new things.

Sometimes navigating change is hard and, like all my Agatha books, I explore some pretty uncomfortable and tricky feelings within the pages.

Agatha is very excited for her first day at big school but as the day progresses she starts to feel more and more anxious. Her best friends are there too and she hopes everything will be the same as it was in kindergarten. but Agatha finds herself left out and soon all the hope in her heart feels like a scrunched-up paper ball. It makes her so queasy that Agatha tosses and turns in her bed all night like a little boat lost at sea. Then on her second day of school Agatha meets Uma. Agatha is put in charge of helping Uma settle in. Soon Uma and Agatha are doing somersaults and handstands and cartwheels and by the end of the day Agatha has a whole bright, new perspective.

All my Agatha stories are based on real life moments from childhood. The pictures are predominantly illustrated in charcoal with touches of collage and watercolour. I use the charcoal in a very expressive way that adds to the drama of the narrative. Colour is sparse but contrast and emotion is a plenty. I hope you will embrace Agatha. There are four books in the series all focus on a particular problem and offer a creative solution.

I am thrilled to share my new story On Nanna’s Boat This is a first for me in that I wrote it but didn’t illustrate it.

The brilliant Max Hamilton has poured so much love and detail into the gorgeous illustrations. We both dedicated this book to our wonderful mums.

It wasn’t easy giving it over to Max but I trusted her wisdom and talent. Our hearts are full holding the finished book in our hands.

My story, On Nanna’s Boat, is a love letter to my mum really embellished with all the unforgettable times my daughter spent with her. Precious times that have helped shape her life and made her heart so kind and giving. …of course I used artistic imagination with the boat!

…..a gentle journey through enchanting days, magical nights and cherished moments shared between a little girl and her beloved Nanna. In our case Nonna!

Mum I hope you can see it from heaven.
